Find Arc's sidebar file

Arc keeps your spaces, pinned tabs, folders, Favorites and Today tabs in one file, StorableSidebar.json. Arc has no way to export pinned or Favorite tabs (its help center, checked 12 October 2026), so you choose this file yourself. It holds your sidebar, not your passwords or browsing history.

On a Mac

The file is in this folder:

~/Library/Application Support/Arc/
  1. Click Choose on the exporter (or in Orbit: Import › Arc). The file dialog opens.
  2. Press ⌘⇧G (Go to Folder), paste the path and press Return.
  3. Choose StorableSidebar.json and click Open.

The Library folder is hidden. To click your way there instead, press ⌘⇧. in the file dialog to show hidden folders, then open your home folder › Library › Application Support › Arc. Press it again to hide them.

Files named StorableSidebar with a date in the name are Arc's backups of the same file. They work too, but the plain StorableSidebar.json is your sidebar as it is now.

On Windows

The file is in this folder (the end of the package name varies):

%LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\TheBrowserCompany.Arc_*\LocalCache\Local\Arc\

  1. Click Choose on the exporter (or in Orbit: Import › Arc). The file dialog opens.
  2. Click the File name box, paste this and press Enter:
    %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages
  3. Open the folder whose name starts with TheBrowserCompany.Arc_, then LocalCache › Local › Arc.
  4. Choose StorableSidebar.json and click Open.

AppData is hidden. Pasting the path takes you there without showing hidden items.

Not there? Some installs keep the file in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Arc\ instead, or use the arc://version steps below.

On any system: arc://version

  1. Open arc://version in Arc.
  2. Copy the Profile Path.
  3. Drop the trailing \User Data\Default (or /User Data/Default). StorableSidebar.json is in that folder.

Only choose StorableSidebar.json. Orbit never asks for Arc's Local State file, which holds the browser's encryption key.

Then

Bring it to Chrome

In Orbit 1.9

With Orbit Station

  1. In Orbit, open Import and pick Arc.
  2. Choose the file, then tick the spaces you want in the preview.
  3. Import. Your spaces become workspaces, with Undo right there.

Orbit reads the file on your device and uploads nothing.

As Chrome bookmarks

  1. Open the free exporter, choose the file and click Download Chrome bookmarks (HTML).
  2. In Chrome, open the menu (⋮) › Bookmarks and lists › Import bookmarks and settings.
  3. Choose Bookmarks HTML file, click Choose file and pick arc-bookmarks.html. Chrome adds a folder of your spaces.

Orbit can also put those bookmarks on your new tab, with Import › Bookmarks.

Open the exporter
